Ekiti Speaker Takes Palliatives To Constituents' Doorsteps
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye has taken the second round of his palliatives to the Doorsteps of his constituents today to cushion the effect of COVID-19 ravaging the country.
In a road show, the Speaker's motorcade led by his Chief of Staff, Mr Alao Iyiola, moved round three out of the five wards in his constituency, distributing food items such as bread, bags of rice, indomie noodles and nose marks.
The three wards visited are; Are/Araromi/Ayetoro; Afao/Kajola and Ilapetu/Ijao while two other wards will be visited next week Tuesday.
While fielding questions from journalists, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo disclosed the remaining two wards as; Idemo and Ogbonjana wards.
Oguntayo said that "we are not unaware of the fact that the items could not go round every member of the constituency. What the Speaker did was to give to those vulnerable people who are at home. This was why he directed us to take the food items to their doorsteps without any discrimination or affiliation to any political party or religion."
Addressing the mammoth crowd at each junction, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker said "this is going to be a continuous exercise even after this deadly pandemic which we pray will vanish very soon".
Notable among other aides of the Speaker in the motorcade are: Personal Assistants, Stephen Olawande and Adeola Agboola. Others are Legislative Aides, Folakemi Jayeola and
Hon Dele Fituyi.
