Ekiti: From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained - By Segun Dipe

Image
English poet, John Milton wrote both Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained as epic poems of blank verses. Milton wrote Paradise Lost in 1667 and Paradise Regained in 1671. An interval of four years.

Both Paradise Lost and
Paradise Regained border on the fall and rise (again) of man. Paradise Lost is about the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen Angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Paradise Regained
, on the other hand, is the story of Christ, who came to rescue man, from his earlier work, his temptations through his eventual triumph to give man hope.

According to Milton, his purpose for writing the two epic poems as clearly stated in the books was to justify the ways of God to man.” If the writer were to be living today, he could be accused of having Ekiti State in mind while writing the two poems. The people of the state actually lost their Paradise in 2014 and regained it in 2018, exactly four years after. In other words, Ekiti experienced both the Paradise Lo…

Who Leads PDP In Ekiti State?

Image
By
Gani Salau

The People's Democratic Party (PDP), a major political party in Nigeria was once calling the shots at Oke bareke, the government house of Ekiti State right away from 2003 when a non political figure in the agrarian state emerged as the Governor of the state as against what a section of the polity, Alliance for Democracy termed as progressive, up till 2010 when the incumbent Governor, Kayode Fayemi got his mandate through a judicial pronouncement at the court of Appeal, Ilorin from Engineer Segun Oni.

Though, the PDP came back to power again in 2014 when Ayo Fayose won the gubernatorial election from Kayode Fayemi..
Twenty three years since the creation of Ekiti state in October 1, 1996 it seems to be a dicey situation now. No particular leader can be attributed to the party that produced two governors, one with two terms and the other, almost a term  since it lost to the All Progressive Congress in the last gubernatorial election that produced Dr Kayode Fayemi as th…
