Adebayo's Appointment, Round Peg in Round Hole - Ekiti Speaker

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye has described the appointment of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo as a round peg in a round hole.

The Speaker made this known in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

Afuye who said that ''Otunba Niyi Adebayo is tested and trusted'', assured Nigerians that ''the former Governor will not let down the nation having served Ekiti State meritoriously without any blemish''

Otunba Adebayo who, until his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was the National Deputy Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (South), is among the recently inaugurated ministers by President Muhamadu Buhari.

SWANA Holds Conference ... As Ekiti ANA Honours Speaker, COS, Maiwada, Others

South West Association of Nigerian Authors (SWANA) holds its third conference today in Ado just as the Ekiti Chapter honours the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, Chief of State to the Governor, Hon Biodun Omoleye and former Legal Adviser of the association, Barr Ahmed Maiwada.

This event is coming up a day after the investiture of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as the Grand Patron of the association in Ekiti State yesterday.

Just like the investiture of the Governor, the dinner will be attended by the National President, Mallam Denja Abdullahi and two former Presidents of the association, Odia Ofeimun and Dr Okediran respectively.

Former National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Dr Wale Okediran will, on Wednesday chair the investiture of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi as the Grand Patron of the Association in the State.

EKSG Celebrates Youths In SDGs, Charges Them On Impact Making

Ekiti State State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Ably represented by his Chief of Staff and chairman Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the State, Biodun Omoleye, has celebrated Ekiti Youths on International Youths Day 2019 and charged them to make positive use of the social media and the technological advancement in the society.

Omoleye who made the charge yesterday, Thursday, 8th August, 2019 at the  2019 SDGs International Youth Day held at the Lady Jibowu Hall of the Government house grounds in Ado-Ekiti, said the world is now a global village, hence they should make good use of this to compete with their contemporaries globally.

He also educated the youths on the essence of the SDGs which according to him is to eradicate poverty globally and make the world a better place to live for everyone by  2030. He however urged the youths to make their impact felt in their respective communities.

Ekiti Assembly Commends Fayemi Over Projects

Ekiti State House of Assembly has commended the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his administration's efforts at implementing the various on going projects in the State Capital, Ado Ekiti and other parts of the state.
Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transportation, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan gave the commendation at a working visit to the office of the State Commissioner for Works in Ado-Ekiti.
Hon Aribisogan specifically mentioned the Ado-Iyin new dualization road, the Civic Center, the Pavilion and Oja Oba market as legacy projects aimed at transforming the landscape of Ekiti State.
He particularly praised the Governor for his administration attention on the completion of the Oja Oba market in Ado Ekiti and some other ongoing projects despite the paucity of funds, stressing that the completion of the market will bring succour to market women as well as improve economic activities in the State capital.

Employment: Ekiti SUBEB Suspends Recruitment Process, Opts For Electronic Application

The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a temporary suspension of the ongoing recruitment of teachers into public primary schools in the state.

This followed the huge crowd of job seekers that thronged the headquarters of the board in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. A good percentage of the applicants do not fall into the category of personnel advertised by the board.

The Chairman of the Board, Prof. Francisca Aladejana disclosed the postponement in an interview with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday,, hours after the commencement of the exercise. She said the recruitment process was put on hold in order to prevent stampede among the thousands of applicants that  thronged the SUBEB office to collect the application forms.

The ancient city of Ado Ekiti will go agog between Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 August as leaders of the Association of Nigerian Authors will converge to perform the investiture of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi as the Grand Patron of the chapter during the State convention.

Ekiti Speaker Averts Face-Off Among Okada Riders... As Motorcyclists Call for Proscription of Okada Riders' Union

It took the timely intervention of the House of Assembly leadership under the Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye yesterday to save Ekiti State from the face off among motorcyclists which could have led to wanton destruction of lives and property.

Crisis broke out when motorcyclists known as Okada Riders' Association stormed the House of Assembly to protest against the exploitation and harassment by their colleagues who were obstructing their daily business on the road. The protest was led by Mr Ogundele Filani who was apparently fuming while explaining their grievances to the Speaker.

Rt Hon Afuye, sensing the tensed up anger in the Okada riders who were numbering over 500 at the Assembly complex, appealed to them to maintain peace and resolve issues through dialogue rather than violence.
