Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said the security personnel in the State lacked motivation for the past four years.
The governor made this revelation today while addressing the people of Ekiti via a radio program called 'Meet Your Governor'. He said the allowances that were provided for security agents in the State during his first term in Office were stopped during the last administration of Ayo Fayose.
"All the vans and vehicle we gave to the the police, the Peace Corps, the Military and other security agencies in the State in my first term are still the same vehicles they still use now. You don't expect a van that has been on the road for more than four, five years to still be working properly. There is a need to motivate our Police", he said.
Fayemi said these while reacting to a question raised by one of the hosts about the state of security in the state, especially the recent Ijero Bank Robbery.
He however stressed the need to motivate the security personnel in the State and made it known that his administration would make sure Security Personnel were properly motivated.
The radio programme was the first edition since the inception of governor Fayemi's administration in October 15, 2018. He however promised to continue the programme and do it on monthly basis as a way of giving the people feedback on the activities of the government and also hear from them.
He was accompanied to the programme by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Segun Dipe, his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode and several government officials.
