Fear of Imposition Grips APC Aspirants ... As Osinkolu, Faparusi, Thomas Declare For Senate

By Wumi Ademiju

Fate of many aspirants is hanging in the balance as there are allegations and counter allegations of plan tod impose some aspirants at the primary election of the All Progressive Congress in Ekiti State.

The Governor-Elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi, while addressing some politicians at Isan penultimate Monday, had assured them that "I have no anointed candidates". Even at that, there is the understanding that only trusted aides and loyal party men, not moneybags will be allowed into the State House of Assembly this time around to forestall ugly experience of the past.

However, a melodrama has however started occurring over the National Assembly positions as most of those who lost out in the last APC governorship primary elections are now planning to change the game plan. This has made some aspirants for the senatorial and House of Representatives to be jittery while some have decided to forge ahead.

Over 500 Aspirants in Ekiti are jostling for positions in the Forth…

Opinion: What does Segun Oni really want? by Segun Dipe

“Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do.” –Potter Stewart.
There is no gain saying that the legal ember stoked by Engineer Olusegun Oni against Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to deck the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State in the toga of a divided house is uncalled for. Both Oni and Fayemi contested the primary election within the party along with other 31 eminently qualified aspirants and Fayemi emerged as the winner, while Oni came second, leading to the July 14 governorship election, which Fayemi also won.

Immediately after the primaries, Oni publicly congratulated Fayemi. As if that was not enough, the former promised to work for the latter as the candidate of the party ahead of the July 14 poll. He vowed not to leave APC because of his loss and promised to give Fayemi his support to win the governorship election. “I am a party person, I will not only support him (Fayemi), I will encourage him. I don’t have any intention of …

By Abasi-Femi Oguntayo & Idowu Adebomi

Against the backdrop of the statement made by the Governor-Elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi that he has no anointed candidates, leaders from Ekiti North Senatorial District have met to support whosoever emerges from a transparent election during the forthcoming primaries of the All Progressive Congress.

This resolution was made at a meeting held on Thursday 23rd August, 2018 attended by seven out of the eleven Local Government Areas and the Local Council Development Areas Chairmen. They took this decision following the rumour making the round that the Senatorial seat of Ekiti North has been conceded to the former governor of the State, Engr Segun Oni who was also said to have unilaterally endorsed the former Senator, Olu Adetunbi for the plum job.

Engr Oni's endorsement of Adetunbi is allegedly causing a rumpus in the fold of Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOCO) as majority of them condemned the former Governor's purported adoption of his k…

Several members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties in Ikere Ekiti have recently defected to the All Progressives' Congress (APC) en masse, in support of their own son, Muyiwa Olumilua.

While speaking with some Ikere indigenes, everyone of them stated that it was the turn of Ikere-Ekiti to produce a member of the House of Representatives who would represent the constituency, after being out of contention for the past 16 years and claimed it was Ikere's turn.

It would be recalled that Ekiti South West has been in the saddle for the past 8 years, having Hon. Ife Arowosoge, and presently Hon. Segun Adekola to represent the constituency. Prior to that, Hon. Akindahunsi, from Ise-Orun Local Governmen…

Okemesi APC Stakeholders Reject Aspirant's Secret Adoption

Contrary to the fake news being circulated by one of the three aspirants in Okemesi Ekiti that he has been endorsed by a group of people, former Commissioner for Justice in Ekiti State, Mr Wale Fapohunda, at a duly constituted Stakeholders meeting has announced  that there is nothing like endorsement.

Some elders who were alleged to have earlier accepted letters of intent with money from all the aspirants were said to have also secretly submitted name of an aspirant to Mr Wale Fapounda as their consensus candidate without any recourse to other two contestants. Instead of adopting this clandestine decision of a tiny few,  the former Attorney General convened a stakeholders' meeting to discuss it. At the hot meeting, the so called Elders forum headed by Chief Ilesanmi Ajibade (Lejua of Okemesi) was widely condemned by the speakers for taking a one sided decision without contacting any of the other two aspirants.

Lets us ask ourselves a pertinent question, what is really the difference between the black and the white race and why do white people sees us as inferior?  Come to think of it, Is there really any difference between us? Putting the black and the white skin pigmentation aside, the answer is absolutely none!

The scientists in the human genome project have proved that all races be it black, the Asians, Latinos and others are all the same. In spite of this, the white guy always feel superior to the black  such that an ordinary, uneducated homeless and jobless white man sees himself as better than  the black no matter the educational and financial status of the latter.

Poor and most uneducated Africans are the most hard-working in the world. They are involved in various hard labour and demanding duties.

This makes one to ponder where the African intellectuals really are.

After many years of independence, Nigeria still has no rank in terms of technological advancement  and…

OMPAN Condemns Premium Times Reporter's Detention, Calls for His Immediate Release

The Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN)  has condemned strongly, the arrest of Samuel Ogundipe of PremiumTimes, and his continued detention by the Nigerian police for refusing to give up his sources.

OMPAN In a press release signed by her PRO,   Ismaila Yahaya Kana, expressed her shock at his arrest and joined other well meaning local and international organization to call for his immediate and unconditional release as well as unfreezing of his account.

OMPAN said she wondered why only Samuel Ogundipe was singled out for this unlawful, evil and undemocratic arrest when so many online and print media houses carried the story in question.

"It is very strange that in a country that claims to be practicing democracy, a member of the fourth realm can be arrested and detained by the police without provocation.

"OMPAN wants to stress that Mr Samuel Ogundipe was well within his rights to report the said letter and should not be held responsible for the inabili…

I May Be Too Blunt, Not Arrogant - Akogun

In this Interview with Fountain Newsbreaker, the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in Ekiti State who is also an Aspirant for the Ekiti State House of Assembly under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Akogun Tai Oguntayo, explains why those he called haters consider him arrogant.
Fountain Newsbreaker:  With this intimidating dossier of two Master's degrees and successful careers in journalism and now Law, why did you choose to go for the State Assembly and not National Assembly?

I started my political career at the grassroots level with appointive positions at the Local Govt as a Supervisor for Health and later Secretary to the Local Govt. So, I don't want to jump the gun as many new entrants into politics will want to do today. I therefore prefer the State Assembly, where I can benefit my community and the State at large from my wealth of experience as a grassroots person.

Fountain Newsbreaker: Is this your first time of contesting?
Certainly n…
